Boston History Tours are now available to the public!

Previously, Boston History Tours were by invitation or referral.  Tours last from a minimum of 3 hours to several days depending on what you want to see and experience.  Examples of special interest tours only I offer are listed below.

First settler to a 'Bill of Rights': 1623 - 1648

On this tour we will re-discover the first European settler of Boston, The Great Migration of Puritan immigrants who created the first self-governing settlement in the Colonies, and their zeal for freedom that led to the first ever written bill of rights- 'The Body of Libertyes' of 1641.

Ben Franklin's Boyhood Neighborhood: 1706 - 1723

Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston and spent his formative youth exploring the neighborhoods while taking advantage of the best books and newspapers the Colonies had to offer. This tour explores the events, places and people that inspired his political, scientific and philanthropic legacy.

John Hancock's Fight for 'Liberty': 1744 - 1768

John Hancock, known for signing the Declaration of Independence with a flourish, was the man behind the scenes during the revolutionary fervor in Boston.  This tour explores his life, influence and mostly forgotten legacy to Boston, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and America.

On the Shoulders of Literary Giants

During the Golden Age of Boston, the "Athens of America" held a preeminent position in literature and the arts. Whitman, Emerson, Longfellow, Hawthorne, Alcott, and Douglas created literary classics and biting social commentaries. French's sculptures brought people 'to life' and the first public botanical garden in America is still beautiful while hiding its secrets.

Buildings, Architecture and Art

Boston has some of the most important and influential building architecture in America.  Great works of art and statuary are 'hidden' in plain view.  The greatest engineering achievement of the 19th century lies ignored underneath the shuffle of human feet.  This tour rediscovers the stories behind Boston's art, buildings, events and people of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Boston's Topographical History

From the tall hill-dominated islands of the 1600s, to the narrow urban peninsula of the 1700s, to the sprawling metropolis of the 1800s; no city has reshaped its landscape more than Boston.  The City of Boston’s current landscape, and the buildings now standing on what was once  the ocean or Charles River, is an engineering marvel revealed in this tour.

"Rick is an amazing person.  This was my best tour ever. ...And it's not just the boring things like 'this church was built in 1887', he knows actual live history that is still somehow connected with our everyday lives."  -O.B. from Russia.

"I am very lucky I got to know Ricky. He is such a great person! He is very courteous, respectful,
caring and warm-hearted. My journey in the United States wouldn’t have been the same if I
wouldn’t have got the chance to meet him!" - J.S. from France.
